WHY ASPIRANTS ARE FLOCKING TO MY HOMESTEAD

By now, even a 5-month kid knows how famous and influential I am in Maji Mafupi village and beyond borders. Many, like Sitayi ofcourse cannot accept the fact that I have fought tooth and nail to gain the undisputed fame. He, like a standard two kid, argues that I used a back door to gain my fame. Well, as you know, Sitayi is a ‘mkono birika’ type of people. Not even his nuclear family likes him. You see, after the tea bonus that saw Sitayi laugh all the way to the bank with a cheque worth 7,627 shillings, the man showcased his gluttonous nature after spending nearly everything in Borabu hotel leaving his family wallowing with hunger pangs. That is Sitayi for you. Of course he has waged a losing war against a solid rock like me.
Anyway, leave Sitayi alone. He is not worth my airtime here. You see, after the political realignment in our country, political aspirants have got themselves into a tough terrain. They must have strong grounds men for them to pull through. That is where I come in. My name, which has spread like bush fire to the neighbouring communities has compelled aspirants to sought after me.  They are trying to convince me to be their pointman in Majimarefu and even Majimafupi. Well, that comes with a price. As you all know, this dry season, my farming output has gone on a go-slow. This has forced me to look for alternative ways of ensuring abundant flow of food to my angels. I reluctantly had to offload some girls for marriage. Although they hadn’t fully attained 17 years, the maximum age of marriage as stipulated in my constitution, I decided to marry them off so that we can use the dowry for our family survival.
The trick worked at least for a month. And then, as I was planning to offload another girl, politicians started flocking to my hacienda.
Now, I am left with a variety of options to choose from. So far, Bikundo, who is seeking to be the counselor for Nyaigesa ward has spoken with me to use my influence to woo voters to his camp. He offered to pay me 525 each month via M-Pesa. I refused. That was peanuts for me. Then in came Geke. This man holds one of the best hotels in town. He has made a name for selling big mandazis that has got a lot of meat inside. This is unlike Sitayi’s hotel where he sells big mandazis which to many customers I have spoken to compare them with a balloon. Geke, did not only promise to pay me 625 each month but has also promised to be delivering 12 mandazis each market day to my angels. That sounds like a good deal. I took it.
The other day, Moturi, who happens to be Kemunto’s cousin gave me a frown look because I decamped from his bandwagon to join Geke’s. Moturi is also seeking to be a counselor. Despite my concealed relationship with Kemunto, the Puya AKA busaa seller, I cannot betray the covenant I already struck with Geke.
“Bure kabisa.Hatutampa kura” was the reactions I got from Okora, whom I suspected was sent by Moturi to disrupt a meeting of ‘wazees’ that I had called to endorse Geke’s candidature. Of late, Moturi has been making frequent visit’s to Sitayi’s abandoned hotel. I suspect they are drawing a campaign strategy which I will counter with my political influence.
Otiato, the cousin I once told you about from Nairobi, told me that, in a recent meeting at the CORD and Jubilee headquaters, my name was adversely mentioned. The two rival parties may soon be chasing for my signature to endorse one of them. It is for this reason that I advised Geke not to choose his party of choice yet. I am welcoming suggestions as to which league I should join. Otiato told me that a battalion of eminent  person from the two camps may soon come to lure me in my hacienda. I have already drafted my replies. Also, I will ask Nyakang’I my seldom gardener to start cleaning my compound as it expects to host a high profiled personnel.
